Bespoke DIN-Rail Interface Modules
The Challenge: When upgrading industrial automation or integrating new equipment with legacy machinery, engineers frequently hit a roadblock: incompatible signals. Often, the required signal converter or translator simply does not exist as an off-the-shelf product.
The S&T Solution: To bridge these communication gaps, S&T Controls designs and manufactures bespoke, DIN-rail mounted interface modules. We engineer custom hardware and write the specific logic required to get your incompatible systems talking to each other.
The image above highlights two custom solutions we developed:
Programmable Logic Interface (Left): A highly adaptable unit featuring two optically isolated inputs coupled to a robust relay output. Driven by an onboard PIC microcontroller, this unit can be programmed with completely custom logic to suit highly specific operational parameters.
Stepper Motor Pulse Generator (Right): Designed to seamlessly interface two stepper motor drives with a standard stop/start and directional signal. Operational speed is mechanically adjustable via an easily accessible internal interface (accessed by removing the front fascia).
Expanded Capabilities: Beyond simple logic and pulse generation, we regularly engineer modules to handle and translate complex industrial communication protocols. Our custom interfaces have successfully bridged combinations of:
- UART
- RS232
- RS485
- Modbus
If your systems are using incompatible signals and you cannot find a commercial solution, we can build the exact translator you need.
